Egypt's exports of cement during the period from January to September 2021 increased by 202%, to record $347 million, compared to about $115 million, year-on-year.
The monthly report issued by the Export Council for Building Materials, Refractories and Metal Industries stated that during the first 9 months of 2021, Egypt exported cement to 76 countries, 22 of whom were not exported during the same period last year.
The list of the biggest importers included Cameroon, Togo, Benin, Spain, Guinea, Mauritania, Liberia, Gabon, Tanzania, Chad, and Venezuela.
Egypt's exports of iron and steel
Egypt's exports of iron and steel recorded a significant growth of 193% during the first 9 months of 2021, reaching $1.311 billion, compared to $447 million, year-on-year.
The monthly report issued by the Export Council for Building Materials showed the growth of iron exports last September to record $214 million, compared to $78 million during the same month of 2020.
Egypt exported iron and steel to 77 countries during the period from “January-September 2021”, including 19 countries that were not exported to during the same period of 2020, namely Pakistan, Djibouti, Ireland, Cameroon, Belize, Peru.
Italy
10 countries, including Italy, which accounts for 25% of the value of Egyptian iron exports, Spain, US, Saudi Arabia, Canada, Brazil, Portugal, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Kenya accounted for 84.3% of the total iron and steel exports during the first 9 months of 2021 at a value of $1.105 million, compared to $305.08 million, year-on-year, with a growth of 262.3%
Italy controlled 25.1% of the total Egyptian iron exports, ranking first in the list of the largest importing countries from the sector, with a value of $329.654 million, compared to $30.137 million, a growth of 994%.
