Egypt's Agricultural Exports Hit 4.8 Mln Tons

The Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation announced that the volume of Egyptian agricultural exports has increased to more than 4.8 million tons so far.

Exports reached 4 million 895 thousand and 604 tons of agricultural products, an increase of 173, 557 tons over the same period last year.

The most important exports for this period included citrus, potatoes, onions, grapes, pomegranate, garlic, mango, strawberry, beans, guava, cucumber, and pepper, as well as eggplant.

Ezz El Din Abu Steit, Minister of Agriculture received the weekly report on agricultural exports from Ahmed Al-Attar, head of the Central Department of Agricultural Quarantine on total exports during the period from January 1 to November 6.

Abu Steit added that the exports of citrus amounted to one million and 760 thousand and 841 tons, potatoes to 687, 842 tons, while onions came third with 524, 877 tons.

Grapes ranked fourth in agricultural exports with a total of 113,378 tons, while pomegranates ranked fifth with a total of 95,819 tons.

Egypt's garlic exports ranked sixth with a total amount of 29,861 tons, and  mango exports ranked seventh with 27,10 tons, followed by strawberries with 19,585 tons.

While beans ranked ninth in the exports list with a total amount of 13, 900 tons, guava came tenth with 8,067 tons, while Eggplant with 2,104 tons.
