Egypt’s agricultural sector recorded a significant breakthrough in 2025, with total agricultural exports surpassing 9.2 million tons, valued at more than $4 bn, according to Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Alaa Farouk.

In televised remarks, Farouk said the strong performance reflects Egypt’s growing competitiveness in global agricultural markets and the increasing confidence of importing countries in Egyptian products.

He noted that agricultural exports rose by more than 750,000 tons compared to the previous year.

The minister attributed the surge to reliance on scientific research, the adoption of modern agricultural technologies, and state policies aimed at expanding cultivated areas. He highlighted the role of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s vision, which places agriculture at the core of Egypt’s food security and economic development strategy.

Farouk also affirmed the importance of cooperation with the private sector and encouraging investors to expand production and export activities, describing this partnership as a key driver behind the export boom.

Citrus fruits topped Egypt’s agricultural exports in 2025 with more than 2.2 million tons, followed by potatoes at around 1.4 million tons, sweet potatoes at nearly 400,000 tons, and both fresh and dry beans at approximately 350,000 tons, in addition to fresh onions.

According to the minister, Egypt currently exports more than 405 agricultural products to over 167 countries worldwide, underscoring the sector’s growing global reach.
