Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Migration, Dr. Badr Abdelatty, met with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan on the sidelines of the extraordinary Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) ministerial meeting in Jeddah. The discussions focused on enhancing Egypt-Turkey relations, supporting Palestine, and addressing regional security challenges.

During the meeting, Minister Abdelatty praised the positive momentum in bilateral relations, emphasizing stronger economic, political, and diplomatic cooperation between Cairo and Ankara. He highlighted the increase in high-level visits between the two nations, which have contributed to deepening mutual ties.

The discussion was particularly significant as Egypt and Turkey celebrate 100 years of diplomatic relations, marking a milestone in their long-standing partnership.

The Gaza crisis was a key focus of the meeting. Minister Abdelatty briefed Minister Fidan on the outcomes of the March 4 Arab League emergency summit in Cairo, where an Arab plan for Gaza’s early recovery and reconstruction was presented.

Egypt’s foreign minister emphasized Cairo’s diplomatic efforts to secure a ceasefire and oversee a three-phase plan for stabilizing Gaza. The two ministers discussed how Egypt and Turkey, along with the OIC and the broader Arab-Islamic bloc, can mobilize political and financial support for Gaza’s rebuilding efforts.

Minister Fidan welcomed Egypt’s initiative and reaffirmed Turkey’s commitment to Gaza’s reconstruction, recognizing Egypt’s leadership in brokering peace and facilitating humanitarian efforts.

In addition to Gaza, the ministers discussed the latest security developments in Syria. Both sides reaffirmed their support for Syria’s unity, stability, and national institutions while emphasizing the need to combat extremism and violence.

The two ministers underscored the importance of a comprehensive political transition, ensuring inclusive representation for all Syrian communities and securing the rights of diverse ethnic and religious groups in Syria’s future governance.
