A phone call took place between Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Expatriates' Affairs, and Sergey Lavrov, Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs.
The phone call came as part of the ongoing consultation between the two countries on bilateral relations and regional and international issues of mutual concern.
During the call, the two ministers reviewed the course of bilateral relations between Egypt and Russia, with both sides affirming their appreciation for the historical friendship that unites the two countries and the continuous development it is witnessing across various fields.
Abdelatty stressed the keenness to continue enhancing bilateral cooperation, including following up on the implementation of joint strategic projects and the overall economic aspects of the bilateral relationship.
The call also addressed the developments in the Gaza Strip, where Minister Abdel Atty reviewed the ongoing Egyptian efforts to solidify the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Agreement, stressing the importance of moving forward with the implementation of all provisions of the plan launched during the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit, which provides a practical path for Palestinian self-determination and the establishment of the independent Palestinian State.
In this context, Abdelatty reviewed the ongoing preparations for convening the Cairo International Conference for Early Recovery and Reconstruction of Gaza in support of the Palestinian people.
The call also covered the ongoing consultations regarding the draft resolution at the UN Security Council concerning developments in Gaza and security arrangements, in light of the ongoing deliberations within the Council.
Moreover, Abdelatty stressed the importance of the resolution contributing to solidifying the ceasefire and creating the conditions for achieving a just and comprehensive peace that fulfills the aspirations of the Palestinian people and their right to self-determination and the establishment of their independent state.
Regarding the developments in Sudan, Abdelatty emphasized the importance of an immediate ceasefire as a prelude to launching a sustainable political process that guarantees the unity of the Sudanese state and its institutions.
The call also touched upon the developments in the Iranian nuclear file, with the two ministers exchanging views on ways to reduce regional tension and support the path of diplomatic solutions.
Furthermore, Abdelatty stressed the importance of continued cooperation between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and building mutual trust among the concerned parties, which allows for a genuine opportunity to reach a comprehensive settlement on the Iranian nuclear file.
