Egyptian Red Crescent to Provide Iftar for 1 Million People in Gaza

The Egyptian Red Crescent has launched its Ramadan campaign “Hilal El-Kheir”, announcing plans to provide iftar meals for one million people inside the Gaza Strip as part of a wider humanitarian drive during the holy month.

The initiative forms part of the organization’s broader effort to support 6.5 million beneficiaries from vulnerable families across Egypt and in Gaza Strip, through a comprehensive package of food and relief programmes aimed at promoting solidarity and compassion during Ramadan.

Under the campaign, the Egyptian Red Crescent will operate daily iftar tables at 20 locations across Cairo, as well as in shelters for expatriates, orphans, and the elderly affiliated with the organization nationwide. The programme also includes the daily distribution of hot iftar meals, suhoor meals, and food boxes containing essential supplies sufficient to support needy households throughout the month.

Humanitarian Kitchen Expands Operations

As part of the Hilal El-Kheir 2026 campaign, the organization’s “Humanitarian Kitchen” continues to deliver daily hot meals for travellers in Arish, Rafah, and Sheikh Zuweid. A mobile kitchen stationed at the Rafah Border Crossing is also providing iftar and suhoor meals for Palestinian patients, the wounded, and their companions arriving in or departing from Egypt.

The campaign’s flagship Gaza component will deliver one million hot iftar meals to families inside the enclave through the “Zad Al-Ezza Ramadan Kitchen.”
