Egypt's FM, Pakistani Counterpart Hold Talks on Regional Tensions in Istanbul

Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Migration, Badr Abdelatty, held a meeting on Sunday with Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mohammad Ishaq Dar, on the sidelines of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers meeting in Istanbul.

During the meeting, Abdelatty  praised the positive momentum in bilateral relations between Egypt and Pakistan, highlighting the increasing frequency of high-level engagements in recent months. He also commended the ongoing cooperation and coordination between the two nations within regional and international organizations, as well as their shared positions on key global issues.

The two ministers also exchanged views on the escalating regional tensions, particularly the ongoing military confrontation between Israel and Iran. Both sides expressed deep concern over the situation, warning that the continued escalation risks fueling further instability and insecurity across the region.

Abdelatty affirmed the urgent need to halt military escalation and emphasized the importance of pursuing political and diplomatic pathways to contain the crisis. He underlined the necessity of preventing the region from sliding into a cycle of violence and conflict.

The talks concluded with a mutual agreement on the importance of maintaining close consultation and coordination in the coming period, in order to effectively address current challenges and support efforts to de-escalate regional tensions.
