MP Abdel Rahim Ali, an Egyptian journalist, has tested positive to coronavirus in Paris, according to the lawmaker's Facebook official page.

It added that the prominent Egyptian journalist has been transferred to the ICU in a hospital in Paris.

Notably, the MP had left Cairo to Paris last week to attend some political events on the repercussions of the Libyan crisis, but, unfortunately, he showed symptoms to the deadly virus.

Egypt registered on Saturday 1,168 new coronavirus cases, bringing the total cases to 63,923 since the beginning of the virus outbreak.

“Eighty-eight more deaths were confirmed; raising the total number to 2,708,” Khaled Megahed, the Health Ministry’s spokesman, said in a statement.

“Up to 17,140 coronavirus patients have recovered so far,” the spokesman said.

“As many as 403 Egyptians were among the recovered patients today,” he added.

Also, the number of coronavirus patients who had now been retested for the virus and had received negative results has reached 18,658 after getting proper treatment in coordination with the World Health Organization (WHO).
