Egyptian Journalist Hazem Mounir Dies due to COVID-19

Egyptian Journalist Hazem Mounir died from coronavirus after being held in intensive care for about 17 days, Ayman Abdel Majeed, member of the Press Syndicate Council, announced on Sunday.

“Minutes ago, Hazem Munir, my dear colleague who were a professional journalist, loyal citizen, a good man, died following a struggle with coronavirus that lasted for 17 days in the Intensive care," Abdel Majeed wrote on his Facebook page.

"May God have mercy upon his soul," he added.

Mounir was a prominent member of the National Council for Human Rights (NCHR).

I the same vein, the Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population announced that the number of new coronavirus cases has increased significantly in the past few days, as people rushed to markets to buy commodities ahead of the holy month of Ramadan, in addition to the lack of commitment to precautionary and preventive measures to confront the virus.

Moreover, the COVID-19 cases have been recorded in more than 210 states.
