The Egyptian Ministry of Health announced on Sunday the isolation of a number of villages in Minya, Port Said, the Red Sea and Menoufia to limit the spread of the novel Corona virus.

The spokesman for the Egyptian Ministry of Health, Khaled Megahed, said that the villages that have been isolated in order to reduce the spread of the Corona virus are being supplied with all their needs thanks to the Ministry of Social Solidarity.

Megahed stressed that it is forbidden to deal with these isolated areas for 14 days to check on the residents after the emergence of new infections of the COVID-19 there.

He noted that these villages will be reopened again after the end of the quarantine period, adding that “This measure has very positive results so far.”

In this regard, the Health Ministry spokesman pointed out that the most important governorates in which regions were placed in quarantine are Minya, Port Said, the Red Sea and Menoufia.

The spokesman of the Ministry of Health stressed that the isolation measure does not mean that the province has problems, but this measure is set to preserve their inhabitants, as the curfew decision is applied to the areas when infection cases appeared and to prevent proliferation.

The Health spokesman explained that these villages are prohibited from socialization for 14 days, and their entrances and exits are closed for 14 days with the knowledge of the security forces.

Earlier, the Egyptian Ministry of Health announced the registration of 40 new cases of coronavirus (Covid-19), among them the case of a Jordanian citizen and 39 Egyptians, in addition to 6 new deaths.

The ministry explained that the cases are those in contact with the positive cases that were discovered and announced in advance, as part of the investigation procedures conducted by the ministry, according to the guidelines of the World Health Organization, WHO.

It also drew attention to the death of 6 cases, including a 73-year-old Italian man, and 5 Egyptians, between the ages of 57 and 78, from the governorates of Cairo, Damietta, Minya and Port Said.

It stated that the total number that was registered in Egypt with the new Corona virus until Saturday, is 576 cases, including 121 cases that have been cured and left the quarantine hospital, and 36 deaths.
