Sisi's remarks on October war victory anniversary

Egypt’s head of state said on Sunday that the 6th of October is one of the most important and glorious days in Egypt’s history when the Egyptians crossed the line between despair and hope and between the past and the future.

This came in a televised speech on the 46th anniversary of 6th of October War. He stressed that the October war was not only a military glorious victory but also a demonstration of the nation’s will that has been drawn from its long history of solidity and invincibility.

Sisi paid tribute to late President Mohamed Anwar Sadat, who proved himself as a patriotic and genius leader in Egypt’s history.

He also lauded great sacrifices offered by the Egyptian people and servicemen to defeat terrorism and rebuild Egypt.

Moreover, Egypt’s first lady Entisar El Sisi said on Facebook: “We are celebrating together the anniversary of the great victory of the 6th of October, in which the Egyptian people gave an unforgettable example of cohesion and sacrifice for our holy land.”

A lot of celebrations were held across the nation and abroad to mark the 46th year of Egypt’s victory against Israel, regaining Sinai in the process.

The war is considered to be one of the most iconic wars to take place in our modern history.

Egypt’s military prominence in the six-day war paved the way for the subsequent peace process.

The 1978 Camp David Accords that followed led to the return of the Sinai to Egypt, as the world watched late Egyptian President Anwar El-Sadat venture into Israel land with his head held high to legitimize the accord.
