CAIRO, March 26 (SEE) - President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received on Tuesday Bulgarian President Rumen Radev at Ettahadiya Palace, eastern Cairo, and announced the launch of the Egyptian- Bulgarian Joint Business Council, following bilateral talks.

Presidential Spokesperson Bassam Rady said that the two leaders held bilateral consultations, followed by widened talks between the two countries’ delegations.

On his part, the Bulgarian president hailed the historical relations between Cairo and Sofia.

“I’m looking forward to fostering the Egyptian-Bulgarian relations at the light of recent positive movements taken by the two sides,” Radev added.

Egypt’s Sisi announced that the launch of the Egyptian-Bulgarian joint business council was one of the most important results of Bulgarian president’s visit to Cairo.

In a press conference with his Bulgarian counterpart, Sisi said that the launch of the Egyptian-Bulgarian business council would have a positive role on boosting economic relations and trade exchange between the two countries.

The Egyptian president said that the size of trade between the two countries has reached over $1 billion, which makes Egypt Bulgaria's number one trade partner in Africa and the Middle East.

"We had today very constructive talks where we discussed ways to boost bilateral relations politically, economically and militarily," Sisi manifested.

"In addition to the recent regional and international developments of mutual interest."

Sisi added that it was important to coordinate and communicate between the two countries for the sake of stability in the Middle East and the Balkans.

Sisi and Radev also discussed the migration crisis and how to solve it through joint action.

Radev invited his Egyptian counterpart to visit Bulgaria soon. This is the first visit by President Radev to Cairo.
