The spokesperson of the Egyptian Armed Forces, Colonel Gharib Abdel Hafez, announced that a terrorist attack on a water pumping station east of the Suez Canal had been foiled.
In an official statement, the military spokesman confirmed that a group of Takfiri elements attacked the East Canal Water Lifting Station checkpoint on Saturday.
"The attack was foiled by the checkpoint personnel, but it resulted in the death of an officer and 10 soldiers as well as the injury of five others."
"The terrorist elements are being chased and besieged in one of the isolated areas in the Sinai," the statement added.
