Lieutenant General Ahmed Khalifa, Chief of Staff of the Egyptian Armed Forces returned to Cairo following the conclusion of an official visit to the Sultanate of Oman aimed at strengthening military cooperation and strategic coordination between the two countries.

Upon his arrival in Muscat earlier this week, Khalifa was accorded full official reception honors, including a guard of honor and the playing of the national anthems of both Egypt and Oman, underscoring the depth of bilateral military relations.

During the visit, the Egyptian Chief of Staff held talks with Rear Admiral Abdullah bin Khamis bin Abdullah Al-Ra’aisi, Chief of Staff of the Sultan’s Armed Forces.

Discussions focused on enhancing military cooperation, exchanging expertise, and reviewing a number of issues of mutual interest. The two sides also signed a memorandum of understanding designed to open new horizons for joint military cooperation between the Egyptian and Omani armed forces.

Khalifa also met with Mohammed bin Nasser bin Ali Al-Zaabi, Secretary General of the Sultan’s Armed Forces. The meeting addressed ways to further strengthen military partnership and coordination in a manner that serves the shared interests of both nations.

In a separate meeting, the Egyptian Chief of Staff held talks with General Sultan bin Mohammed Al-Nu’amani, Minister of the Royal Office. The discussions covered mechanisms for supporting military and security relations between Cairo and Muscat, with the Omani official emphasizing the alignment of views between the two countries on developing defense cooperation to bolster regional security and stability.

On the sidelines of the visit, Khalifa toured the Omani Academy for Strategic and Defense Studies and inspected the National Defence College. He received a detailed briefing on the academy’s departments, academic programs, and its role in preparing and qualifying national leadership cadres capable of safeguarding Oman’s higher strategic interests across military and civilian sectors.
