Mohamed Abbas Helmy, Minister of Civil Aviation, and Hiroshi Oka, Ambassador of the State of Japan to Cairo, witnessed the celebration ceremony for the relaunch of “EgyptAir” flights, heading from Cairo to Tokyo, after a hiatus that lasted for more than three years, in the wake of the corona pandemic.
The Minister of Aviation stressed Egypt's keenness to strengthen bilateral relations and stimulate air and tourism traffic with Japan in light of the fruitful cooperation between the two countries.
The Minister noted that at the beginning of the new year joint and continuous work with the Japanese side will be announced with the opening of the first environmentally friendly passenger terminal at Burj Al Arab Airport in cooperation with the Japanese agency “JICA”.
The minister stressed the keenness of the flag carrier to continue its ambitious plan to increase the number of destinations it reaches around the world and open new routes within tourism export markets in the continent of Asia, Europe and North America.
EgyptAir is scheduled to operate this route on board its latest Boeing B787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, which is one of the wide-body models, with a capacity of 309 seats, with one flight per week, every Thursday from Cairo Airport, with the return flight on Friday from Narita Airport in the Japanese capital, Tokyo.
It is planned that EgyptAir will operate two flights a week on Thursday and Saturday, with the return flight being on Friday and Sunday, starting in November, subject to gradual increase according to the policy of supply and demand for the Egyptian tourist destination.
