CAIRO, March 29 (SEE) - EgyptAir received on Friday the first Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner which landed at Cairo International Airport, with EgyptAir team and highly profiled delegate comprising representatives of the several partner companies contributed to the manufacturing of the aircraft.
In a statement by the national airlines, Civil Aviation Minister Younis El Masry was delighted for the delivery of EgyptAir’s first Dreamliner, saying: “This is an achievement carried out by Egyptian Civil Aviation personnel, who are willing to accomplish more success for the progress of the air industry in Egypt.”
“I am pleased to witness this moment when EgyptAir looks forward to resuming its leading role in the region, bringing customers to the world in innovation, comfort, and style,” he added.Upon landing, Chairman and CEO of EgyptAir Ahmed Adel took a brief tour aboard the new aircraft for a closer look to its specifications and features.
Adel said: “We are delighted to welcome the first B787-9 Dreamliner to our fleet. We have accomplished a great deal of our development strategy set under the umbrella of the Ministry of Civil Aviation."
"The new aircraft, one of the most technologically advanced aircraft, is the perfect platform for our transition to a global network carrier. The national air carrier pursues upgrading its fleet; EgyptAir announced adding 33 aircraft to its fleet by the end of 2020. – (6) B787-9 Dreamliner, (12) A220-300, and (15) A320neo," he pointed out.
The Boeing 787-9s will be configured for 309 passengers with 30 in the Business Class and 279 in Economy equipped with all means of luxury and comfort.
The second Dreamliner is expected to be delivered in April 2019 and will be used to extend the airplane’s operations to several long-range routes in the national carrier's network.
