Undersecretary of State for African Affairs Ambassador Hamdi Sanad Loza and US Special Envoy for Sudan Thomas Pierello discussed on Monday, the latest developments in Sudan, particularly in North Darfur.
The meeting focused on the need to intensify regional and international efforts to achieve an immediate, comprehensive, and sustainable ceasefire to stop the bloodshed of the brotherly Sudanese people, preserve the security and safety of civilians, enhance efforts to respond to the deteriorating humanitarian situation, and create a conducive environment for launching an inclusive political process that meets the aspirations and hopes of the Sudanese people.
The meeting - which was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters in the New Administrative Capital - was attended by Assistant Foreign Minister and Director of the Sudan and South Sudan Department Ambassador Hisham Issa, and US Ambassador to Cairo HE Ruth Leuker.
