On the evening of January 4, 2025, Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Migration, Dr. Badr Abdel-Aty, held a phone call with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken. The discussion focused on the latest developments in Gaza and Syria.
During the call, Dr. Abdel-Aty emphasized the urgency of coordinated regional and international efforts to achieve an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and ensure unhindered humanitarian aid access to the area. He condemned Israel’s aggressive policies against the Palestinian people, rejecting the systematic targeting of Gaza’s healthcare infrastructure and hospitals, which he described as a blatant violation of international law and humanitarian law.
Regarding Syria, the two officials addressed the ongoing crisis. Dr. Abdel-Aty reiterated Egypt's steadfast support for the Syrian people and stressed the importance of a comprehensive, nationally-owned political transition free from external pressures.
