As part of a national project on judicial protection for children, Egypt's Minister of Justice Omar Marwan and UNICEF representatives  inaugurated on Sunday the Child-Friendly Court at the Family Court Complex of  Benha, Qalyubiyya Governorate.

The joint project, named Child-Friendly Courts, was launched after the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the judicial protection of children’s rights in Egypt between UNICEF and Ministry of Justice.

The idea behind this project is to enhance children’s rights within the judicial system in Egypt in coordination with governmental and non-governmental institutions.

"The MoU represents a framework to develop joint cooperation and coordination between the Egyptian justice ministry and UNICEF regarding implementing an action plan to support and promote the rights of children in conflict with the law," the UNICEF said in a statement.
