Egypt Unanimously Re-Elected to Lead ICESCO General Conference

Egypt was unanimously re-elected to continue chairing the General Conference of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization during the organization’s 15th General Conference held in Kazan, Republic of Tatarstan.

The decision reflected renewed confidence among member states in Egypt’s role within multilateral international cooperation frameworks and its leadership of the organization’s General Conference.

Egypt’s presidency of the conference is represented by Higher Education and Scientific Research Minister Abdelaziz Konsowa, who also serves as head of the Egyptian National Commission for Education, Science and Culture.

Member states praised Egypt’s efforts over the past four years in supporting joint Islamic cooperation and strengthening collaboration in the fields of education, science, and culture across the Islamic world.

The unanimous agreement also highlighted the successful coordination and follow-up efforts carried out by the Egyptian National Commission for Education, Science and Culture, reinforcing Egypt’s presence and influence within the organization.

During the conference, member states additionally agreed on the formation of the conference bureau, selecting Senegal as Vice President of the General Conference and Maldives as Rapporteur of the conference.

ICESCO plays a key role in promoting cooperation among member states in areas related to education, scientific research, cultural preservation, innovation, and sustainable development.
