The Egyptian Authority for Unified Procurement, Medical Supply, and the Management of Medical Technology will receive the third Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine shipment tomorrow, Monday, media agencies reported.
Consisted of 1,508,000 vaccine doses, the shipment is part of Egypt’s plan to provide the required number of vaccines for protecting the Egyptian population against the emergence of COVID-19.
President’s Advisor for Health and Prevention Affairs Dr Mohamed Awad Tag El-Din said that the country will vaccinate 40 million residents by December.
He added that the booster shot of the vaccine will be given to those who received the second dose of their vaccines a year ago.
Next, the Presidential advisor asserted that the state has enough vaccine doses to vaccinate the majority of the Egyptian population. The state started to manufacture vaccines, alongside, depending on various sources for getting vaccines.
Tag El-Din continued that at least 60 million doses by the beginning of November to vaccine all residents who didn’t receive their first shot and to give the booster shots.
It is worthy to mention that the Ministry of Health highlighted a few days ago that the climax of the fourth wave of COVID-19 in Egypt may start this weekend.
Therefore, the authorities urged all residents to strictly follow all protective procedures against COVID-19 including wearing facial masks and applying social distancing.
