Reports: Egypt to Receive 1st Pfizer Shipment This Week

Egypt will receive the first shipment of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine on Thursday, according to media reports cited official sources.

The highly anticipated shipment consists of 261,000 doses. The doses will be preserved inside 61 special refrigerators at all vaccination spots that dedicated to Egyptians who will travel abroad.

In the same context, Egypt will also receive a new shipment of Moderna vaccine in the upcoming few days.

It is expected that the country will receive total 5.2 million doses of ‘Pfizer’ and ‘Moderna’ COVID-19 vaccines.

It is worthy to mention that the state received the second Johnson & Johnson (J&J) COVID-19 vaccine shipment will be on last Saturday.

The second batch included 525,600 doses and the shipment is part of the authority’s plan to provide Egyptians with the required vaccine doses.

In the same context, the Egyptian Vacsera company succeed in locally manufacturing more than 15 million COVID-19 doses from the Chinese Sinovac to be distributed in all vaccination centers.

On Monday, Egypt reported new 491 new COVID-19 cases, according to COVID-19 daily updates issued by the Ministry of Health.

The new recorded rates raised the total number of COVID-19 infections in Egypt to 293,000 since the beginning of the pandemic in Egypt.

The health ministry also reported in its statement new 14 deaths, bringing the total number of deaths from the virus to 16885.
