Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty reaffirmed the depth and uniqueness of relations between Egypt and the European Union, describing them as strong and well-established ties that were elevated to a comprehensive and strategic partnership nearly two years ago.
The remarks were made during a joint press conference in Cairo on Thursday with Kaja Kallas, the European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, during her official visit to Egypt. Abdelatty welcomed the EU official and her accompanying delegation, expressing appreciation for the continued engagement between the two sides.
The Egyptian foreign minister described the discussions as constructive, noting that they reflected the scale and special nature of relations between Egypt and the European Union. He recalled that this partnership was further reinforced by the first Egypt–EU summit held in Brussels a few months ago, which was attended by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
Abdelatty said the talks also focused on the latest developments in the strategic partnership and stressed the importance of building on the current momentum, particularly following the inaugural summit. He underlined Egypt’s interest in continuing close coordination with the European Union across political, economic, and regional issues of mutual concern.
