Egypt has strongly condemned statements attributed to Mike Huckabee, the U.S. ambassador to Israel, describing them as a blatant violation of international law and the UN Charter.

In an official statement, the Egyptian government said the remarks made during a televised interview included claims suggesting Israel has rights over territories belonging to Arab states. Cairo stressed that such assertions contradict established principles of international legitimacy.

Egypt also expressed surprise at the comments, noting they appear inconsistent with the vision previously outlined by Donald Trump regarding ending the war in Gaza, as well as the outcomes of the Peace Council conference held in Washington on February 19, 2026.

The statement reiterated Egypt’s firm position that Israel holds no sovereignty over occupied Palestinian territories or any Arab lands. Cairo underscored its categorical rejection of any attempts to annex the West Bank, separate it from the Gaza Strip, or expand settlement activity in the occupied Palestinian territories.

Egypt reaffirmed its continued support for the Palestinian people’s legitimate rights and called for adherence to international law and relevant UN resolutions as the basis for achieving a just and comprehensive peace in the region.
