In a step intended to ease the suffering of people with disabilities and help them integrate into all fields of society, Egypt's government is set to launch a comprehensive plan to create a database for disabled people with mobility impairment nationwide as it follows up on efforts to establish an industrial complex for prosthetic devices.
This also comes in accordance with Egypt's President Abdel Fatah El-Sisi's recommendations for the establishment of an integrated system of high-level medical services for disabled people on a sound scientific basis.
Last month, El-Sisi ordered the establishment of a special fund for Egyptians with special needs and the inclusion of the needs of Egyptians with disabilities in the countryside-focused Decent Life national project.
He called for consolidating the state’s efforts to produce advanced prostheses in Egypt with the assistance of foreign expertise.
In 2020, the government announced the launch of the first phase of the national project to establish a unified system to produce prosthetic devices in cooperation with concerned state authorities.
