The Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) predicts extremely hot weather to prevail in Cairo, Lower Egypt, South Sinai, Northwest Coast, and south of the country, during daylight hours on Thursday.

Hot weather is also expected to hit the Northeastern Coast.

There is also a 20% chance of light rain prevailing in Cairo, Lower Egypt, Northwest Coast, and Western Desert.

Furthermore, the Mediterranean Sea will experience moderate to turbulent waves, ranging between 2 and 2.75 meters in height with southeast surface winds.

Waves in the Red Sea will be low to moderate, ranging between 1.25 and 1.75 meters with northwest surface winds.

Moreover, moderate weather is also expected to prevail across the country, at night.

Temperatures predicted for the following cities are: 40°C in Cairo, 37°C in Alexandria, 32°C in Marsa Matruh, 41°C in Sohag, 42°C in Qena, and 43°C in Aswan.

On Wednesday, Manar Ghanem, a member of EMA's media center, said temperatures will start to rise from Wednesday until Saturday, in most regions, due to being affected by air masses coming from the eastern and western deserts.

In televised statements on Wednesday, she stressed the need to wear masks for people with chest and sinus allergies when leaving the house.

Ghanem also advised driving cautiously on most roads during low horizontal visibility due to raised dust and sand, in addition to avoiding direct exposure to sunlight during the day and consuming plenty of fluids to keep hydrated.
