The Governor of North Sinai, Khaled Megawer, conducted an inspection tour of the Rafah Crossing and the Al‑Awja Crossing to monitor the flow of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip and assess the readiness of the border crossings ahead of the second phase of the Sharm El-Sheikh peace agreement.
During the visit, the governor reviewed operational procedures at both crossings and followed up on the reception and handling of incoming humanitarian assistance. He stressed that Egypt places the highest priority on the delivery of aid to Gaza and continues to facilitate its entry in an orderly and consistent manner, ensuring rapid distribution while adhering to all approved regulations and security measures.
The governor also inspected the system in place for receiving wounded Palestinians arriving through the Rafah Crossing. He confirmed that a coordinated mechanism is being implemented, involving immediate medical examinations upon arrival and the transfer of patients by fully equipped ambulances to designated hospitals according to the severity of each case, allowing them to receive the necessary medical care without delay.
Megawer emphasized that executive, security, and medical authorities are operating around the clock to maintain efficiency at the crossings. He added that all organizational and technical measures are being taken to guarantee full preparedness for any developments in the coming period, particularly in light of ongoing preparations for the next phase of the peace agreement.
