Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt’s steadfast support for Lebanon’s sovereignty, unity, and stability during a meeting in Cairo on Sunday with Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam.

Abdelatty underscored Egypt’s solidarity with Lebanon in the face of repeated Israeli violations and emphasized the need for the full implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701 and an immediate end to Israeli aggression against Lebanese territory.

According to a statement issued by the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meeting took place as Prime Minister Salam visited Cairo to attend the Grand Egyptian Museum’s inauguration and to head Lebanon’s delegation to the 10th session of the Egyptian–Lebanese Joint Higher Committee.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Tamim Khallaf said Abdelatty welcomed the “momentum witnessed in Egyptian–Lebanese relations in recent months, both at the presidential and ministerial levels,” noting Cairo’s commitment to deepening cooperation with Beirut.

Abdelatty expressed Egypt’s aspiration to “sustain this growing pace of coordination and consultation in line with the special fraternal ties between the two nations,” and to advance bilateral relations across political, economic, and cultural fields.

The foreign minister reiterated Egypt’s “firm position in support of Lebanon’s sovereignty, national unity, and the extension of state authority over all its territory,” stressing Cairo’s backing for Lebanon’s national institutions to enable them to fully assume their responsibilities in maintaining the country’s stability and security.
