Egypt has closely followed the recent consultations held in Saudi Arabia aimed at reaching an understanding to end the Russia-Ukraine war. For decades, Egypt has consistently emphasized the need to resolve conflicts through peaceful means, in accordance with the United Nations Charter and international law. These principles serve as the foundation of the international system and the fundamental guidelines governing global relations. Egypt firmly believes that addressing conflicts at their roots through peaceful settlement is the only path to restoring security, stability, and peace.
In line with this commitment, Egypt has actively participated in various peace initiatives, including Arab, African, and "Friends of Peace" initiatives. Egypt expresses its support for all efforts and initiatives aimed at ending the crisis, underscoring the importance of establishing political solutions as the primary basis for resolving international conflicts. This stance has been reflected in Egypt’s involvement in multiple initiatives seeking to de-escalate the crisis, as well as in President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s call in November 2022 for a peaceful resolution, given the humanitarian, economic, and security consequences of the conflict.
Current global efforts, including the U.S. administration’s approach to ending wars and conflicts worldwide—particularly in the Middle East—offer renewed hope for resolving ongoing military confrontations. These efforts pave the way for fair political settlements that enjoy international consensus and consider the interests of all parties involved, including those related to the Palestinian cause and the broader Middle East conflict.
