Egyptian Minister of Trade and Industry Nevin Gamea issued a resolution to postpone the decision to stabilize the prices of medical masks, disinfectants, gloves, and alcohol for a period of two months.

The decision comes in implementation of the desire of a large number of medical supplies factories, who confirmed their exposure to many problems, especially with distributors and pharmacists, to deal with the decision due to the large variation in the price of alcohol, which makes it difficult to implement the decision.

The decision stipulated that all stores, pharmacies, and other sales outlets be obligated to announce the prices of products in places visible to their buyers, while prohibiting its storage from circulation, whether by hiding them or not offering them for sale, or refraining from selling them or in any other way.

The decision is to punish anyone who violates this decision with imprisonment for a period of no less than a year, and a fine of no less than EGP 100,000 and not more than EGP 2 million or the equivalent of the value of the goods.

Exports of masks, disinfectants are banned in Egypt

It is noteworthy that the Egyptian Ministry of Trade and Industry decided to ban the export of rubbing alcohol and medical masks of all kinds for a period of 3 months, starting last March.

According to a publication issued, the measure is part of the Egyptian government’s comprehensive plan to protect citizens from any possible negative repercussions of the novel coronavirus.

It is noteworthy that rubbing alcohol, and alcohol sprays have witnessed over the past period a wave of unprecedented selling prices to citizens.
