Egypt Post Warns of Phone Calls, Messages Targeting Customer Accounts

Complaints have been received from some citizens stating that they have received phone calls and text messages from people claiming to be affiliated withEgypt Post, asking them for detailed information about their personal accounts and financial cards.

The Egypt Post clarifies that all these calls are not affiliated with them, stressing that the customers have not and will not be asked for any detailed data related to financial cards via mobile phone, e-mail, or any other means, and the Egyptian Post declares that it is not responsible for these calls.

"We call on citizens not to give any account information such as the numbers registered behind the card, the expiration date of the card, the password, the personal card number, or the payment codes that arrive by text messages from the Egyptian Post to customers to secure purchase transactions from websites to any person to protect their personal data and financial accounts."

The Egyptian Post also warns all citizens of these phone calls aimed at hacking financial accounts, and calls upon them not to interact with these calls. It also explains that the necessary legal measures are being taken against these people for defrauding citizens, hacking their financial accounts, and impersonating a government institution and speaking on its behalf.
