Egypt took part in the inaugural meeting of the Palestine Donor Group, represented by Ambassador Mahmoud Omar, Assistant Foreign Minister and Director of the Palestine Department, during a session convened by the European Union to mobilize support for the Palestinian Authority.
The meeting saw broad international endorsement of the U.S. President’s Peace Plan, with participating states describing it as a constructive framework for promoting stability and paving the way for a credible political process grounded in internationally recognized legitimacy.
Delegations also expressed deep appreciation for Egypt’s pivotal diplomatic efforts, which led to the Sharm El-Sheikh ceasefire agreement in Gaza, praising Cairo’s essential role in coordinating regional and international initiatives to contain the ongoing crisis.
Participants underscored the necessity of forming the International Stabilization Force in Gaza, mandated to carry out peacekeeping responsibilities under UN Security Council Resolution 2803. They further affirmed their readiness to contribute to the mission’s implementation.
The states also voiced strong support for the upcoming “Cairo Conference for Early Recovery, Reconstruction, and Development of Gaza,” set to be hosted by Egypt. The gathering is viewed as a crucial global platform for mobilizing resources, aligning donor efforts, and expediting the reconstruction process to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people.
