Egypt expressed its sincere condolences and sincere sympathy to the government of Iraq and its brotherly people for the victims of the horrific fire that occurred yesterday, Monday, at the Imam Hussein Hospital in Dhi Qar Governorate, according to an official statement released by the Foreign Ministry on Tuesday.
At least 52 people were killed and 22 others injured in a fire likely caused by an oxygen tank explosion at a COVID-19 hospital.
"Egypt also extends its sincere condolences to the families of the innocent victims, wishing them a speedy recovery," the statement read.
It added that Egypt affirms its full support and solidarity with Iraq in this painful affliction.
