Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Egyptian Expatriates, held a phone talks with Yusuf Tuggar, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The two ministers discussed ways to bolster bilateral relations and exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual concern.
Abdelatty emphasized the profound historical ties between Egypt and Nigeria, noting the growing momentum in political, economic, and developmental cooperation.
He also reaffirmed Egypt’s full support for efforts to eliminate terrorist organizations in Central and West Africa that target innocent civilians.
Furthermore, he highlighted Egypt’s commitment to building the capacity of national African institutions to combat terrorism and achieve comprehensive development.
For his part, Nigerian FM praised Egypt’s leading role in supporting African nations against terrorism.
Moreover, he commended Egypt’s comprehensive approach to addressing this scourge and stressed the importance of continued cooperation and expertise exchange to enhance regional security and stability.
The discussion also touched upon the situation in the Middle East.
In tgis regard, Abdelatty stressed the necessity of concerted international efforts to solidify the ceasefire agreement and transition to the second phase of the plan proposed by U.S. President Donald Trump.
FM reiterated Egypt's rejection of any practices that undermine the territorial integrity of Palestine or impose new realities in the West Bank.
Furthermore, he condemned continued settlement expansion and called on the international community to stop the escalation and settler attacks against Palestinian civilians.
Abdelatty also emphasized the urgent need for humanitarian aid access to the Gaza Strip and the commencement of early recovery and reconstruction efforts.
Regarding the Horn of Africa, both ministers expressed their total rejection of the unilateral measures taken by Israel to recognize the so-called "Somaliland."
They affirmed their unwavering support for the unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of Somalia and its legitimate state institutions.
Both ministers characterized the unilateral Israeli actions as a violation of international law and the UN Charter, warning that such moves threaten to destabilize the Horn of Africa region.
