Egypt has emerged as the top African country in fixed internet speed, a milestone attributed to the government's ongoing digital transformation and infrastructure development, according to Abdel Wahab Ghoneim, Vice Chairman of the Arab Federation for Digital Economy, according to Kazinform International News Agency.

Ghoneim highlighted the growing impact of digitalisation on the global economy, noting that the worldwide digital economy has now reached a value of US$55 trillion.

According to Elbalad TV, he emphasised that Egypt’s rapid digital expansion has significantly improved internet connectivity, solidifying its position as a leader in Africa.

He also pointed out that Egypt is witnessing continuous growth in outsourcing and digital service exports, having attracted around 55 digital service companies. This expansion aligns with global trends influenced by the Fourth Industrial Revolution, which is reshaping industries worldwide.

Ghoneim further noted that Egypt is investing in human capital development, with 200,000 young professionals trained in artificial intelligence and digital technologies. He stressed that the country remains committed to equipping its workforce with the necessary skills to accelerate digital transformation and enhance economic competitiveness.
