Several activities related to establishing the Egyptian-Italian "Holy Route" project were held in Rome on Saturday and Sunday.
These activities include a meeting between the director of the newly announced project Dr. Issa Iskandar, and the Bishop of Rome Don Dario Gervasi where he blessed the twinning between Egypt's Holy Route, and Italy’s Saint Nicholas Walking Route.
The bishop asserted that the spiritual value of the project can help in deepening the communication between different peoples.
Moreover, Iskandar held various meetings with several Italian officials and religious figures beside visiting many Italian monasteries such as Monastero di San Benedetto.
Another project of twinning between the Coptic Church represented in the Monastery of Saint Anthony and the Italian Monastero di San Benedetto was discussed. It represents a religious value as Saint Anthony was the founder of Monasticism in Egypt, and San Benedetto was the founder of Monasticism in Italy.
One of the targeted goals of this series of visits was communicating with the priests of the Vatican and Italy about the project. Also, setting the work plan, promoting the project will be tackled soon.
A delegation from Vatican and Italy will pay a visit to Egypt in September for inspecting the Holy Route and meeting various religious and spiritual figures.
