Egypt-France Trade Exchange Reach $2.9 Billion: CAPMAS

The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) revealed that trade volume between Egypt and France will reach $2.9 billion in 2024, compared to $2.5 billion in 2023.

This came on the occasion of the arrival of French President Emmanuel Macron at the beginning of a multi-day official visit to Egypt, during which he will meet with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi on Monday. 

The two presidents are scheduled to witness the signing of memoranda of understanding and agreements during a business forum covering the fields of health, transportation, water, and renewable energy.

The volume of Egyptian exports to France reached $1 billion in 2024, compared to $855.4 million in 2023. Meanwhile, the volume of Egyptian imports from France reached $1.8 billion in 2024, compared to $1.7 billion in 2023.

Regarding the most important commodity groups exported by Egypt to France in 2024 comes as follows: electrical machinery and appliances worth $248 million, fertilizers worth $194 million, fuel and mineral oils worth $158 million, vegetables and fruits worth $75 million, and ready-made garments worth $73 million.

Regarding the most important commodity groups imported by Egypt from France in 2024 comes as follows: pharmaceutical products worth $302 million, grains worth $183 million, cars, tractors, and bicycles worth $115 million, iron and iron products worth $100 million, and various chemical products worth $99 million.

CAPMAS pointed out that the value of French investments in Egypt reached $483.8 million during the fiscal year 2023/24 compared to $591.3 million during the fiscal year 2022/23. 

Meanwhile, the value of Egyptian investments in France reached $238.3 million during the fiscal year 2023/24 compared to $284.2 million during the fiscal year 2022/23.

The value of remittances from Egyptians working in France amounted to $71.1 million during the fiscal year 2023/24 compared to $79 million during the fiscal year 2022/23. 

Meanwhile, the value of remittances from French workers in Egypt amounted to $14.1 million during the fiscal year 2023/24 compared to $9.7 million during the fiscal year 2022/23.

Egypt's population reached 107.5 million in April 2025, while France's population reached 66.6 million during the same period.  The number of Egyptians residing in France, according to the mission's estimates, reached 65,000 by the end of 2023.
