As part of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Egyptian Expatriates' commitment to the welfare and safety of Egyptian nationals abroad, and following the circulation of a video showing an Egyptian citizen on a vessel detained by Iranian authorities, Dr. Badr Abdelatty has directed the Consular Affairs Department to take all necessary measures to ensure the safety of the citizens involved.

In this context, Ambassador Haddad El-Gohary, Assistant Foreign Minister for Consular Affairs and Egyptian Expatriates, stated that the Egyptian Interests Section in Tehran was instructed to immediately contact Iranian authorities.

It was confirmed that four Egyptian citizens are aboard the vessel "Reem Al-Khaleej," which is being held at Bandar Abbas port in southern Iran after being detained off the coast of Iran's Qeshm Island.

A member of the Egyptian Interests Section in Tehran has been assigned to travel immediately to the port where the vessel is detained to provide necessary consular and legal assistance, and to work toward the swift release of the Egyptian sailors and their safe return home.
