Egypt expresses its full support for the resumption of negotiations between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran through the meeting being held today in Muscat, under the auspices of the Sultanate of Oman, in accordance with the directives of President Sisi to support efforts aimed at de-escalation and reaching a peaceful and sustainable settlement to the Iranian nuclear issue.

Egypt affirms that the essence of these efforts must be based on creating a favorable climate based on good faith and mutual respect, so as to reach a sustainable agreement as soon as possible.

Egypt emphasizes that there are no military solutions to this issue, and that the only way to address it is through dialogue and negotiation, taking into account the interests of all concerned parties. Egypt also stresses that it will continue to support efforts aimed at reaching an agreement on the Iranian nuclear program, in a manner that benefits both negotiating parties and the entire region, in close coordination with our brothers in the regional states.

Egypt appreciates the constructive efforts exerted by the State of Qatar, the Republic of Turkey, the Sultanate of Oman, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in this regard, and expresses its hope that these sincere endeavors will lead to a positive breakthrough that contributes to enhancing the prospects of stability and peace in the region.

Egypt also calls on the international community to strengthen its efforts in addressing the risks of nuclear non-proliferation in the region in a comprehensive manner, by supporting the implementation of the goal of a Middle East free of nuclear weapons that includes all countries in the region without exception, as well as achieving the universality of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons in the Middle East and subjecting all regional nuclear facilities to the International Atomic Energy Agency’s (IAEA) Comprehensive Safeguards Agreement.
