Egypt's foreign minister, Sameh Shoukry, has raised concerns over actions that undermine stability in the Horn of Africa and increase tensions between African countries. He is calling for concerted efforts to contain regional crises, instead of perpetuating a policy that irresponsibly fuels conflicts.

In his addresses at the 19th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), Shoukry called for cooperation and respect for the rules of international law regarding transboundary waterways. He suggested that unilateral measures should be avoided, as they do not consider the economic, social, and environmental impacts on all parties and further threaten regional stability.

Shoukry also expressed Egypt's solidarity with Sudan and its people. He is deeply concerned about the ongoing military confrontations and is calling for all parties to prioritize the great interest of Sudan, commit to a ceasefire, and resort to dialogue.

Egypt has received more than 350,000 Sudanese citizens since the beginning of the Sudanese crisis. To support Sudan's national vision to resolve the crisis, Egypt has launched the Sudan's neighboring countries' mechanism.

Shoukry said that Egypt's efforts are in line with its commitment to preventing the bloodshed of the Sudanese people and alleviating their humanitarian suffering. The Sudanese crisis has caused the death of more than 13,000 people since April, according to the Armed Conflict Location and Event Data Project. The United Nations says that more than seven million people have been displaced.

Furthermore, Shoukry stressed Egypt's full support for the unity of the Somali territories and Somalia's sovereignty over its entire territory. He expressed Egypt's condemnation of any unilateral measures taken by any regional party to threaten the unity and integrity of Somalia.
