The Pharaohs will face either Islanda or Japan on Thursday, August 15 in quarter-finals of the tournament.

The African Champions finished first, topping their group with nine points as they pulled off four victories over Sweden, Chinese Taipei, Canada, and Hungary. Egypt suffered only one defeat by the defending champions France in their second game at the tournament.

They booked their place in the international tournament after claiming the African Championship title, held in Morocco, where they defeated Tunisia in the final game.

They made an ideal start to the tournament by defeating Sweden 32-29, before suffering a 28-24 defeat by holders France in the second game.

The Pharaohs crushed Chinese Taipei in their third game with a 36-25 score on Friday. They defeated their rivals Canada with a 47-20 score in the fourth game of the group stage. The Pharaohs demolished their opponents Hungary with a 31-24 score in the last game of the group stage.

The African Champions are looking forward to following the footsteps of Egypt’s U 20 team that achieved a bronze medal at the Men’s Junior U21 World Championship in Spain.

They delivered an impressive performance during the tournament, as they became the first non-European team to achieve the full mark during the group stage in this tournament since 2009 when Brazil managed to do so
