Egypt’s Minister of Labor, Hassan Raddad, announced that Monday, April 13, will be an official paid holiday for private sector employees in celebration of Sham El-Nessim.

In a statement, the Ministry of Labor clarified that employers may require staff to work on the holiday if necessary, but employees must be compensated with double pay on top of their daily wage or provided a compensatory day off upon written request.

A circular has been circulated to labor directorates nationwide to ensure the holiday is observed across workplaces and production sites.

Raddad extended his congratulations to the Egyptian people and workers, wishing continued prosperity, progress, and stability for the country.
