Egypt has continued to closely monitor the movement of humanitarian aid convoys destined for the Gaza Strip, amid reports that Israeli authorities have prevented the entry of some relief supplies.
The 108th humanitarian convoy departed early Sunday morning through the Rafah crossing under the supervision of the Egyptian Red Crescent, following a two-day suspension caused by the closure of the Kerem Shalom and Al-Awja crossings. The closures coincided with the Israeli weekend, disrupting aid delivery operations.
The convoy is carrying thousands of tons of essential food supplies, shelter materials including blankets, tents and winter coverings, as well as large quantities of personal hygiene items. It also includes petroleum derivatives needed to operate hospital generators, provide lighting, and ensure electricity for bakeries across Gaza.
Egyptian efforts to facilitate humanitarian assistance have continued alongside diplomatic engagement, including meetings with current and former international envoys. Earlier this week, actress and former UN refugee envoy Angelina Jolie visited the Egyptian side of the Rafah crossing, where she reviewed coordination mechanisms between the Egyptian and Palestinian Red Crescent societies and praised Egypt’s role in delivering aid despite severe weather conditions affecting North Sinai and Gaza.
Meanwhile, the Egyptian permanent committee operating inside Gaza has continued distributing essential supplies, including infant formula, flour, and dry food items. On Thursday alone, tens of thousands of food parcels were distributed in central Gaza, along with additional shelter materials.
Aid movements remain under close supervision, particularly as some trucks have been forced to turn back after Israeli authorities rejected shipments related to tents and shelter materials.
