Egypt has strongly condemned Israel's withdrawal from the agreement regulating the operations of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) and the official suspension of its work.
Egypt affirmed that this unacceptable decision represents yet another blatant and systematic Israeli violation of international law and international humanitarian law. It is a dangerous development through which Israel aims to undermine the Palestinian cause, particularly the rights of refugees, including the right of return.
This decision is also a disregard for the United Nations, its agencies, and the international community.
Egypt reiterated its support for the resilience of the Palestinian people on their land, emphasizing the importance of the international community's commitment to supporting the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, including the right of return, which does not expire and is guaranteed by human rights and international law.
Egypt warned of the severe repercussions of this illegitimate decision on unarmed Palestinian civilians and the potential collapse of humanitarian work and essential services provided by UNRWA.
It also holds the Israeli government fully responsible for the consequences of this decision, reaffirming that UNRWA's role is irreplaceable. Egypt calls on the Security Council to fulfill its duty to maintain international peace and security, especially in light of the regrettable international inaction regarding the daily suffering of the Palestinian people due to the ongoing war waged by Israel. Egypt urges the international community to confront these Israeli violations aimed at restricting services that alleviate the suffering of Palestinian civilians.
