The Egyptian government revealed that the first phases of the Walkway of Egypt's People project "Mamsha Ahl Misr" has been completed, adding that preparations are underway for its opening in early 2022.
This came on the occasion of celebrating the completion of the first phase during the presence of Mustafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, in the presence of Assem El-Gazzar, Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, and Khaled Abdel-Aal, Governor of Cairo.
Madbouly boarded a Nile boat, on which he toured the extension of the first phase of the walk way project; Where he listened to an explanation from the officials about the mechanism of managing and operating the project.
The Prime Minister praised the speedy completion of the first phase, stressing that the project has an important social dimension; as it will be open to all Egyptian citizens, with large areas for entertainment, tourism and shopping.
He stressed to the officials the need to pay attention to maintenance and cleaning work, as well as security to preserve this important project.
Madbouly added: "The Walk of Egypt's People" comes within the framework of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's directives to implement projects that achieve the goals of sustainable and urban development, stressing that the project is one of the most prominent projects for entertainment and tourist attractions in downtown Cairo.
In the same context, El-Gazzar indicated that the opening of the project for the first time to the public is an important event, especially since great efforts are being made to speed up the completion of it in all its stages.
The minister explained that the first phase, which has been completed, extends from the 15th of May Bridge to Imbaba Bridge with a length of 1.8 km, and includes a walkway of gradient levels along the Corniche, with an average width of the upper walkway 4.5 m, and an average width of the lower walkway 6.5 m, including 5 restaurants, 5 cafeterias, 56 shops, 3 garages with a total capacity of 180 cars, as well as 3 terraces with a total length of 315 m, accommodating 1240 people, landscape and fountains.
The first phase also includes a theater on an area of 275 m2 that can accommodate 772 people.
The minister stressed that work is in full swing to complete the remaining three phases, in coordination with the Engineering Authority, which is supervising the implementation on specified dates.
In parallel, the lighting of the facades of all buildings surrounding the "Ahl Misr" project will be developed, explaining that the second phase is 3.2 km long, and the third phase is 3 km long and consists of two sectors, the northern sector of the “Tahya Misr” bridge, the Sahel Bridge (1.9 km), while the southern sector extends from Qasr al-Nil Bridge to the Meridian Bridge with a length of 1.1 km.
