Egyptian Ministry of Awqaf announced about closing Al-Hussain Mosque, one of the largest mosques in Cairo, from Saturday until the end of Ramadan.

The decision was made due to the necessary repair and maintenance work that are carried out during this period inside the Mosque.

Al-Hussain Mosque is located in Old Cairo, Gamaliya District, and its opposite is Al-Azhar Mosque. Next to it is Khan el-Khalili, one of the most popular religious sites in Cairo, as hundreds flock to it daily to pray and visit.

Earlier, the Engineering Authority in Egypt started to carry out developing building facades in Al-Hussain area, the project to revitalize historic Cairo, entrusted by the Urban Development Fund.

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi directed the restoration and renovation of the shrines of "Al al-Bayt". He also directed to the development of all roads, squares and facilities surrounding and leading to those sites.
