On the first day of the "Egypt Can with Industry" conference, a dialogue session was held on Monday under the title "The Future of the Vehicles and Transportation Industry," addressing Egypt's plan for auto industry localization.

Statesmen and senior officials and businessmen took part in the session such as Hisham Tawfik, Minister of Public Business Sector, Jihan Saleh, Advisor to the Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, and Wageh El-Maraghy, Professor of Industrial Engineering and Director of the Intelligent Manufacturing Center at the University of Windsor, Mohamed Adly, an expert in aircraft engine manufacturing, Rolls-Royce International, Mina Kaldas, Director of Development at Ford Motor Company in Germany, Hani Mostafa, Director of the Space Research Center in Canada, Ahmed El-Talawy, an expert in smart electric power grids at New York University, Murad Gerges Lotfi, an expert in the vehicle and electrical engineering with renewable energy in Germany, and Mohamed Hashish, Professor of Mechanical Technology in the United States of America. The media session was moderated by well-known anchor Mohamed Sherdy.

Saleh, the advisor to the PM, said that all ministries concerned with the auto industry participated in setting the national strategy for the localization of the auto industry in Egypt, as well as the private sector, adding that Egypt annually imports about 4 billion dollars of cars.

"The size of these incentives is related to the volume of investments, as well as the local component and added value, in addition to the extent of their reliance on clean technology, as an incentive is provided in the form of repaying customs burdens, according to these figures," she added.

On his part, El-Maraghi reviewed the Research and Training Center on the Applications of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, in addition to the support of the National Alliance for Automotive Design, explaining that the Egyptian strategy for the automobile industry is distinguished because of the incentives it includes.

He pointed out the importance of localization in design before manufacturing to gain patents and added value.

Al-Maraghi stressed that we need a national dialogue on innovation and industrialization so that the Egyptians' experiences can be greatly benefited.

Regarding the training of workers, Adly noted that "we must prepare for the upcoming developments, and before thinking about a manufacturing model."

El-Talawy stressed that facing climate change is no longer a luxury, and electric trains and electric cars save large amounts of wasted energy in means that depend on different energy and added that electric transport is expected to become the dominant one.

"Therefore, we must be more interested in providing the charger for this type of car, pointing out that in Egypt we have a surplus of electricity production, but we must communicate with the Ministry of Electricity, to determine places and ways to create places for charging cars, noting that New York seeks to improve energy use in the Underground Metro by up to 30%, and this can be applied to metro lines in Egypt," he said.
