Egypt has emphasized the importance of launching a comprehensive political process in Syria that is free from foreign interference.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday, Egypt reaffirmed its commitment to closely monitoring developments in Syria and underscored the need for unified efforts among the Syrian people to ensure national ownership of the process.
The ministry stressed that this approach must safeguard Syria's unity and stability, include all segments of society, and align with UN Security Council Resolution 2254. This resolution aims to facilitate broad participation of Syrians in shaping the country's future and rebuilding state institutions, enabling Syria to reclaim its rightful role in the Arab and global arenas.
Egypt also expressed its readiness to collaborate with Syria and exert every effort to support this political process.
The statement highlighted the need to prevent any exploitation of the current circumstances that could undermine Syria's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Furthermore, it emphasized creating the conditions for reconstruction and facilitating the safe, voluntary, and dignified return of Syrian refugees and displaced persons to their homeland.
