Egypt’s economic outlook is expected to remain positive through 2026, as government officials confirmed sustained improvement following a year of recovery and reform.

The announcement came during a cabinet meeting held at the Government Headquarters in the New Administrative Capital, where Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and Minister of Planning and Economic Development Rania Al-Mashat reviewed the second edition of the National Narrative for Economic and Social Development: Policies Supporting Growth and Employment.

Officials said the updated narrative reflects the outcomes of a wide public dialogue process that extended over two months and involved more than 100 economists, specialists, and public figures. The discussions aimed to ensure broad consensus around Egypt’s economic priorities and reform path.

According to Al-Mashat, the revised framework integrates conclusions from the recent World Conference on Health, Population, and Human Development, placing greater emphasis on improving quality of life and strengthening human capital alongside economic growth.

The national narrative aligns with Egypt’s Vision 2030 while adapting to regional and global economic shifts. It focuses on transitioning toward a productivity-based growth model, prioritizing sectors with high export capacity and competitive potential, particularly tradable goods and services, while leveraging the country’s expanding infrastructure base.

As part of the reform agenda, the government is also redefining the role of the state in economic activity to encourage private sector participation and enhance competitiveness. The strategy introduces clear performance indicators and measurable targets linked to structural reforms.

For the first time, the narrative includes a medium-term development and budget framework built on performance-based budgeting, aimed at improving spending efficiency and ensuring effective policy implementation.

Officials stressed that these measures are designed to reinforce macroeconomic stability, support sustainable growth, and create employment opportunities, reinforcing confidence in Egypt’s economic trajectory for 2026 and beyond.
