The Egyptian General Authority for Supply Commodities said on Tuesday that it had contracted 470,000 tons of wheat in an international practice.
The authority stated that the purchase consisted of 50,000 tons of Bulgarian wheat, 60,000 tons of Ukrainian wheat, 180,000 tons of Russian wheat, and 180,000 tons of Romanian wheat.
Data indicated that Egypt's total wheat imports increased by 21% during the first quarter of this year, recording about 3.35 million tons, compared to 2.75 million tons in the same period last year.
